The Secret Gardens 2024 accounts are still being finalised but we can now share the general results.
The crowds turned up and the sun shone (until we were clearing up), the gardens were in full bloom, the entertainment was terrific. The street traders ran out of food, our tea tent was busy all day. The artists stalls and the raffle were as popular as ever. Our local businesses had a welcome boost. Friends of the Arno (plant stall) and the Woodcraft Folk (Kids’ games) did well. It all added up to another bumper year for the Society and our partner charities.
In round figures, we sold about 4,000 tickets that came to £35,000. Other income from the raffle (£2,700), the Tea Tent (£2,500) Sponshorship (£2,500) and the Stalls (£1,500) raised about £9.200, making a total income of about £44,000.
However, Secret Gardens does cost a considerable amount to put on. Our expenses for the Road Closure, St John’s Ambulance, temporary toilets, rubbish disposal etc, came to about £9,000.
This leaves about £35,000 to share between the Society and our 3 Partner Charities. This magnificent sum was only made possible by our team of organisers, led by Kirsty and Lisa, all our volunteers, our garden owners, sponsors, and the thousands of visitors from the local community and further afield who emptied their pockets on another great Oxton day out.
