The Wilfred Owen Commemoration

First World War Concert, Sat, 15 Sept.

As part of the Wilfred Owen Commemorations, a concert will take place at Christ Church featuring music mainly by young composers who, like Owen, were killed in the First World War.  The music is in a wide range of styles and moods, both commemorating the loss of these composers and celebrating their undoubted talent.  The concert will take place starting at 2pm on Saturday 15 September 2018 at Christ Church, played on the church’s historic “Father Willis” organ.  Composers include George Butterworth, Cecil Coles, Ernest Farrar, Maurice Jephson, Hans Fahrmann, Gustav Holst and Edward Elgar.  Entry is free and the event will last an hour

The church will also be open from 11am till 4pm that day as part of the Wirral Heritage Open Day initiative, with a variety of heritage displays.
